Sables de Camargue wine: why this terroir is unique
Over 90% sand, no clay, the sea wind: the Sables de Camargue terroir gives fresh, saline and luminous wines. Here is why.

Between Aigues-Mortes and Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, vines grow where you would least expect them: in the sand. At the Mas des Jeux, we have been wine growers on this unique terroir for two generations, and we farm exclusively organically.
A soil made of sand, salt and wind
The vineyard terroir of the Sables de Camargue wines is made up of over 90% raw mineral sand, brought in by the sea and the wind. These sands contain no clay or silt. The vines have to reach deep for their resources, which gives concentrated grapes and wines of great finesse.
A climate between sea and hills
The climate combines the influences of the Mediterranean and the nearby hills. It gives our wines a distinctive maritime expression: freshness, a saline edge, plenty of light. That is what makes their character so original.
Gris, emblem of the sands
Gris wine is the signature of the Camargue. Ours blends Grenache, Merlot and Carignan, each vinified separately at low temperature. A pale colour with a hint of salmon, a nose of clementine and white peach, a delicate and lightly tangy palate: it is perfect as an aperitif, with a paella or with grilled fish.
Viognier white and Merlot red
Our white, 100% Viognier, offers aromas of pear, fresh apricot and lemon. Our red, 100% Merlot, plays on strawberry and spice, with supple tannins. Both are aged for six months in vats.
Where to taste them?
You can order them online, collect them free of charge from our shops in Aigues-Mortes and Les Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, or visit the estate’s cellar door in Saint-Laurent-d’Aigouze.
